Moonen Shipyards was founded in the medieval Brabant town of
's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, more than a quarter-century ago, to build inland steel cruisers for mostly local clients. Gaining a reputation for quality and service, Moonen soon grew in sophistication and expanded its client base to encompass continental Europe, the UK, and the East, becoming a leading builder of what it proudly calls "pocket-size superyachts."

Moonen has now delivered more than 70 yachts to wide critical acclaim, winning many prestigious awards. The current Moonen line consists of Displacement Types and Explorer Types of rugged, stylish, long-range cruisers with steel hulls and alloy superstructures and Semi-Displacement Types all in alloy.

Moonen continues to develop new models and also builds fully custom yachts to client specifications. Moonen's current line-shaped by René van der Velden Design with naval architecture by Stolk Marimecs or Diana Yacht Design-includes the shipyard's largest yacht ever, the first
Moonen 124.

Recently, in response to growing client demand for even larger yachts, Moonen acquired a property in Groot-Ammers, The Netherlands. There, in a state-of-the-art 60-metre hall, a new Moonen team of 30 to 50 experts including sub-contractors will build yachts up to 45 metres (150 feet). The existing centre in 's-Hertogenbosch will continue to build yachts under 35 metres (115 feet) and perform design, engineering, and interior joinery for the full Moonen line.
